Partners in Leadership is a ten month training program designed to teach Pearl River County leaders and residents the particulars of local and county government, county economic development, health and human services, history and arts, environment, education and contemporary leadership techniques. This course will acquaint students with needs, opportunities and demographic information about the county. Students are matched to worthwhile community projects where they will apply their skills and talents to some of the most pressing initiatives facing our County. This course also affords an opportunity for business individuals to network with other businesses.

About the Class:

The leadership class begins with a reception August 5, 2010 at the beautiful Crosby Arboretum.  August 13 & 14, 2010 the class meets at a two-day retreat. Then, the leadership class meets one full day each month (see schedule below) at several venues throughout the County. Some of the venues include Stennis Space Center, the Crosby Arboretum, Pearl River Community College and other locations throughout the County, Poplarville and Picayune.

Award Winning:

In December of 2004, Partners in Leadership was awarded the prestigious American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) designation, New Orleans chapter for its content and design qualities. Under the sponsorship of Partners for Pearl River County, the County's economic development arm, this class has a staff of local leaders on hand with years of professional experience to instruct on the course of study listed below. The techniques taught in this class are tried-and-true leadership precepts that serve corporate, military and government leaders alike. The class affords students the opportunity to hear State, County and City officials speak on relevant topics and to engage in well-informed dialogue during question and answer periods throughout the training.

What’s Expected of the Student:

1. The tuition for this training is $350
2. Each student is required to participate in a class project
3. Each student must have the desire and commitment
