Partners for Pearl River County

Partners for Pearl River County is a full service industrial, commercial and community development organization serving Pearl River County and two major municipalities of Poplarville and Picayune.

Pearl River County

Prior to August 29, 2005, Pearl River County was recognized by Jack Schultz in his book Boomtown USA as one of the top one-hundred “Golden Eagle” communities in America.  After August 29, neither Pearl River County nor Schultz could have anticipated the accelerated growth in our community caused by Hurricane Katrina.  Before Katrina, population increase was expected by positive economic conditions, by expansion at the neighboring NASA’s Stennis Space Center and by professional retirees relocating from all across the nation.  Hurricane Katrina rushed the county into welcoming a boom made by a diverse in-migration from the Mississippi Coast and Southeast Louisiana.  "Pearl River County is [now] ranked No. 7 on the Census Bureau's list of the 100 fastest growing counties in terms of housing," says a September 12, 2007 AP report.  (See report)

Pearl River County has other industrial sectors, clusters and networks such as advanced materials, aviation, home building supplies manufacturing, geospatial, marine science, oil and gas and health care.  The Picayune Airport has seen expansion with a newly constructed terminal to accommodate some 500 take off and landings per month to include corporate jets and large helicopters.  It is home to both the Chevron and El Paso Energy helicopter maintenance facilities.  Forrest General Hospital has recently purchased Crosby Memorial Hospital and is preparing to locate a new larger building (Highland Hospital) within the county.  These are just a few of the emerging growth industries within the county.

In these web pages are sets of information geared toward offering consultants and site selectors an opportunity to gather relevant data about Pearl River County and to assist in making site selection decisions.
